BRC Area 16 Rep report for Area Liaison Meeting Thursday 6th September 2018

Since the last BRC Area 16 Liaison Committee Meeting on 5th July it has been a fairly quiet period for Area 16 with all Qualifiers for the Summer Championships completed at end of June. At National level there have not been any BRC Advisory Committee Meetings during this time either, though it was agreed in August that for the Winter Novice SJ Qualifier and the Winter SJ Championships individuals will now be included in this competition.

With the summer now behind us, it is now time to reflect on the last two BRC Championships!

The NAF sponsored Horse Trial Championship at Swalcliffe Park in early August continued to provide the hot summer weather to which we had become accustomed. Having to run all classes in the short format although disappointing, was the only realistic to go and comments from many competitors over the weekend proved it was the correct decision. From the BRC Area 16 perspective once again the area had some excellent results and Clubs came home with trophies, sashes and rosettes.

With the BRC National Championships at Lincolnshire Show Ground this last weekend – and again sponsored by NAF – having taken place I am pleased to report that once again the area had some excellent results, with Clubs again coming away with trophies, sashes and rosettes.

Well done to everyone who qualified for these championships and Congratulations to everyone who were successful in being placed in the top 10 teams and top 10 individuals in the many classes these Championships provided! J

The last of the 2018 BRC Championships take place at the end of September at Bury Farm Equestrian Centre. Let's hope the good fortune for the area continues and the Dressage to Music Championship provides yet more prizes to bring home!

The BRC Northern Area Championships took place near Thirsk on the 19th August. Although this competition was well supported from clubs within BRC Areas 2 & 4, sadly no-one attended from BRC Area 16.

With October only just around the corner and AGM's on the horizon, a reminder to please inform the BRC Office of Committee changes, should any occur – especially any to the key Club Officer Committee members. Likewise to myself too in order that information is sent to the correct person.

For the first time ever I think at this time of year, apart for an organiser for the Summer SJ Qualifier all Winter and Summer Qualifiers for the 2019 Championships have an organiser and a venue confirmed. Many Thanks to those Clubs who have come forward to organise these Qualifiers. Hopefully by the end of the meeting on Thursday 6th September a Club will have come forward to organise the Summer Show & Style Jumping Qualifier!

We are still without an Area Treasurer and there is an urgency to have this vacant Committee position filled to comply with the BRC Constitution for areas.

It is planned for the BRC Office to visit BRC Area 16 in 2018 and I am just awaiting confirmation of a date – which I have requested to be on a Thursday evening in November.
